737 winglet work for FLS Aerospce FLS Aerospace has just completed blended winglet modifications on 11 Boeing 737-800s operated by Air Berlin, achieving an average 11-day turnround.

Blended winglets reduce drag and increase fuel efficiency by up to 5.5%, allowing the 737-800 to fly further on the same fuel load. Take-off is quieter and requires less power. The 737-800 is the first airliner to be certificated for the modification by the FAA. Modification designer Aviation Partners Boeing is now aiming for similar certification for the 737-700 in the third quarter of the year, with the 737 Classics certificated by the end of the first quarter next year.
