Boeing Business Jets has unveiled a number of luxurious and contemporary design concepts for the 747-8 VIP. The interior concepts, which will be shown for the first time at EBACE, feature vaulted ceilings, spiral staircases and video wall displays. "With more than 5,000ft2 [465m2] of cabin space, the new 747-8 VIP jet epitomises incomparable luxury and operational flexibility," says Boeing Business Jets president Steven Hill.
The new SkyLoft area, which is located above the main cabin between the upper deck and tail of the 747-8 VIP, provides a potential of 81.8m2 of cabin space and gives owners the opportunity to create unique personal suites, private offices and recreational spaces, says Boeing, which does not actually design or install interiors in VIP aircraft.
With SkyLoft, the VIP-configured 747-8 offers over 526m2 of cabin space, can carry 100 passengers and fly up to 17,150km (9,270nm). The manufacturer has clinched four orders for the 747-8 VIP to date from unnamed customers. Boeing says that there are currently 22 VIP-configured 747s in service.
