Poor old National Airlines is the latest US carrier to succumb to the dark tide of bankruptcies overtaking the industry. Its sad fate was foretold by Steve Danishek, a Seattle-based travel analyst: "They're salmon, probably a chum salmon. Pretty on ice at a fish market, but common enough to fetch a decent price, struggling like hell upstream against the current only to achieve an unfair, but certain, end."
