A business that developed from the back room of an Italian restaurant in Hackensak New Jersey has grown into a catering business that is the talk of business aviation professionals working in New York, Washington and New Jersey areas.
Now Rudy’s Inflight Catering has come to Geneva to promote its services which has seen that business grow over the past twenty years from a 2,000 square foot kitchen to a 17,000 square foot building .
“We did this by remaining focused on the elements that we believed in 20 years ago. Quality, Service, Value and Focus remain the elements that our clients have come to expect and deserve,” says principal Joe Celentano.
The business is run by two brothers Joe and John Celentano who started up from the back room of their Uncle Rudy’s restaurant close to Teeterboro airport in 1983 and processed “carry-out” or “takeaway” services to the pilots and operators at the nearby airport who had become aware of the fine cooking at the restaurant.
In their first year, the brothers were producing meals for approximately 16 aircraft a week. A year and a half later, they were doing 15 to 20 aircraft a day, operated two vehicles and employed six people. Today it is a $150 million business employing more than 250 people.
Rudy's Inflight Catering also has facilities located directly on the field at Westchester County Airport in New York and in Chantilly, Virginia, close Dulles International Airport.
The company services clients 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. It is NASA HACCP (Hazardous Analysis Critical Control Point) compliant and FDA inspected and utilises state of the art food preparation equipment.
For business aircraft operators using Rudy’s services, the company provides linen & laundry service, fresh flowers & Arrangements ; glassware & china ; handwritten menus ; a full line of cabin amenities ; Arabic, kosher, Japanese and other international cuisine and an extensive alcohol selection – so much so that Rudy’s Teeterboro wine cellar is said to rival those of top Manhattan restaurants.
