Vietnam Airlines has secured government approval to buy 10 Airbus A321s, but a proposed order for four Boeing 7E7s needs work. Government approval was secured on 18 November, enabling the fast-growing airline to move forward in pricing negotiations with Airbus. Approval was also given for the airline to "continue talks for four Boeing 7E7s", says state-run media, but this planned order is far from being concluded. In May, the carrier signed a letter of intent with Airbus covering a follow-on order for 10 A321s and in October it signed a memorandum of understanding. A formal purchase agreement is expected soon.
