Airbus Industrie is conducting low speed tests of its new Rolls-Royce Trent 500-powered A340-500/600 in the DNW windtunnel in the Netherlands. A one-eleventh scale model of the A340-500, the smaller, 15,750km (8,500nm)-range version, is in use. Changes to the new models include fuselage stretches, wing chord extensions, enlarged fins and weight increases.
