Airbus last week began wake vortex visualisation flight trials using its A340-300 testbed as part of the European Union Aircraft Wing with Advanced Technology Operation (Awiator) project. The tests are designed to evaluate whether the strength of the vortex can be reduced using differential flap and spoiler settings.
