Large crowds turned out last week to witness the Airbus A380 flying low over bustling Hong Kong, in a visit that coincided with the Asian Aerospace International Expo and Congress.

The aircraft was on a multi-Asian-city demonstration tour and was in Hong Kong for several days, where in addition to VIP flights it was on static display for Asian Aerospace visitors.

The aircraft flew without its wingtip fences, following a minor incident in Thailand days earlier in which the left wingtip fence came into contact with a Thai Airways International maintenance building while being moved to a departure point at Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi airport. Thai Airways International says that the incident occurred because its support staff were not familiar with the ultra-large aircraft.
