Cirrus Aircraft has announced orders for 74 aircraft from Chinese customers, comprising 68 SR series piston-driven aircraft and six SF50 private jets.
The 68 SR series aircraft will be taken by company distributor GDAT and AviClub. GDAT will take 60 examples and AviClub, which like Cirrus is a unit of AVIC, eight, says Scott Jiang, head of Cirrus’s China business.
GDAT is also the buyer of the six SF50 single-engined jets. All the aircraft GDAT ordered are bound for a firm called Dragon Technology, which will use the aircraft for tourist flights.
Deliveries are to take place over the next few years.
Jiang estimates that there are about 100 Cirrus aircraft flying in China. Longer term, the company wants to produce the SR Series in Zhuhai, home of Caiga, the AVIC unit that overseas Cirrus.
