Chinese aircraft manufacturer AVIC I Commercial Aircraft (ACAC) today formally contracted Canadian simulator specialist CAE to build a full flight simulator (FFS) for the ARJ21 regional jet.
The contract, which was first discussed in November 2004, is for a single FSS. The deal is valued at C$15 million ($13 million). CAE says it will deliver the simulator to ACAC’s Shanghai training centre before the aircraft’s 2009 entry into service.
“CAE is honoured to have been chosen as ACAC’s partner for the ARJ21 project,” says CAE group president of simulation products said Marc Parent. “We feel confident that CAE’s extensive experience in building prototype simulators for new aircraft as well as our significant presence in China over the last 15 years has prepared us well for this new and exciting project.”
This is the 21st FFS sale booked this year by CAE.
