An Airbus Corporate Jet (ACJ) destined for Mukesh Ambani, chairman and managing director of Indian conglomerate Reliance Industries, last week underwent a customer acceptance flight from Airbus's plant at Finkenwerder near Hamburg. The A319-based ACJ, equipped with CFM International CFM56 engines and fitted with a 23-seat cabin, will be equipped internally by Airbus-approved completions provider Associated Air Center (AAC) of Dallas, Texas. AAC is also completing Airbus's first ACJ for an Indian customer, which is destined for Kingfisher Airlines' parent UB Group. An industrial conglomerate, Reliance is India's largest private sector company and exporter with a 2005 turnover of $18.8 billion, contributing about 3% of India's gross domestic product. Completion of its ACJ is expected to take nine months.
