ATR announced at the show yesterday the sale of one of its new generation ATR 72-500 aircraft to long-standing customer Air New Zealand.

Delivery will take place in November 2004 and the order will increase the airliner's total fleet to 11 ATR 72s.

The aircraft will be operated by Mount Cook Airlines (MCA), a subsidiary of Air New Zealand based in Christchurch, to increase its network of flights from 550 to 600 per week

"We are very satisfied with the operation of the ATR aircraft in terms of comfort, low fuel consumption and environmental qualities," says Peter O'Reagan, MCA general manager. "The aircraft is particularly well-adapted to our needs and with this order we will be able to satisfy our increasing number of customers."
