Japan's Advanced Earth-Observing Satellite (ADEOS) is to be launched aboard the fourth H2 booster from Tanegashima on 17 August. The H2 will also launch a Japanese amateur-radio satellite. The ADEOS will be used to conduct a global environmental-observation mission, including collecting data on global warming and the ozone layer. The spacecraft also carries NASA and French instruments.
