Administrators looking to dispose of a majority share in Alitalia Maintenance Systems have been authorised by the Italian economics ministry to attempt a sale by 30 July.
Sixty percent of the maintenance company is held by ground services company Alitalia Servizi, and this share will be sold through a "private" agreement, says administrator Augusto Fantozzi.
He had previously indicated maintenance firm SR Technics had put forward an expression of interest for Alitalia Maintenance Systems. A spokesman for the Zurich-based firm declines to comment.
Fantozzi also said Italian manufacturer and engine-maintenance specialist Avio had been prepared to submit an offer, but was eventually unable.
