Australia's automatic dependent surveillance-broadcast (ADS-B) programme is gaining momentum with a Qantas Link Bombardier Dash 8-100 equipped with ADS-B avionics joining the operational programme earlier this month.

The Dash 8 became the first regional airliner in Australia equipped for ADS-B. Five Qantas Link Dash 8s are due to be flying with ADS-B avionics by the end of this month. The aircraft are automatically transmitting position and altitude information to air traffic control every half-second as they operate in the Bundaberg region of Queensland.
