GKN Aerospace Services produces precision moulded composites parts thanks to a process called resin transfer moulding (RTM).

RTM eliminates typical problems such as porosity and fibre distortion, allowing parts previously manufactured separately to be made as a single component. As a result parts count, weight and cost are reduced. It has also developed resin film infusion (RFI), a process which involves laying-up dry multi-axial fabric interleaved with resin film and heat-curing it. RFI brings reductions in manufacturing times and weight. Hall 2, C15.
