Irish carrier Aer Lingus has concluded a 10-year contract with Germany’s Lufthansa Technik covering component maintenance on the airline’s Airbus A330 and A320 fleets.
Lufthansa Technik will begin providing maintenance for the jets from 1 November, mainly at its German facilities.
Aer Lingus had been in discussions with the maintenance firm as its long-term servicing agreement with SR Technics neared expiry.
It has already agreed base maintenance contracts with Sogerma Services, for the A330s, and Sabena Technics for its Airbus A320-family aircraft.
The airline is in talks with incumbent SR Technics for line maintenance, and Goodrich for wheels and brakes work.
Aer Lingus expects to save at least €20 million ($31 million) per year through the new maintenance pacts. The airline is expanding its fleet with 12 newly-ordered Airbus A350s and A330s, plus more A320s.
