Air India will receive its first Boeing 787 in the fourth quarter of 2011, says the US airframer. The aircraft was originally scheduled to be delivered in September 2008.
The Indian state-owned flag carrier has ordered 27 of the long-delayed widebodies. It has received unspecified compensation from Boeing for the delays to the aircraft.
Jet Airways is the only other Indian customer for the 787 with an order for 10 aircraft. Boeing did not say when it will get its aircraft.
Japan's All Nippon Airways is the launch customer for the 787, and it is due to receive its first aircraft in the third quarter of 2011.
