Aero Mongolia plans to add a third Fokker 50 while still trying to sell its two Fokker 100s.
The airline operates two Fokker 50s and is in negotiations to add a third on finance lease, says Aero Mongolia's technical director, who gives his name as Batzorig.
The Fokker 100s have been grounded for over a year, and industry sources say the aircraft are in need of an engine overhaul.
Mongolian company Monnis International owns Aero Mongolia. Batzorig says there have been several management changes recently in the carrier but he declines to elaborate.
Aero Mongolia operates scheduled passenger services and, like many airlines in Mongolia, also provides charter flights for mining companies in the resource-rich country.
Monnis is a Mongolian conglomerate that has businesses in several different sectors such as distributorship of cars and tyres, earth compactors and mining equipment.
