American company P L Porter Controls, which describes itself as the world's leading maker of position control systems for aircraft passenger seating, has appointed Singapore company Aero Systems to its worldwide network of product support centres, dealing specifically with the market in Asia-Pacific, the Middle East and Australasia.
P L Porter has been in the market since 1947. Its Hydrolok hydraulic position control units have been used extensively for more than half a century and the company is now a major player in the electronically controlled systems market too, providing as many as eight methods for passengers to adjust their seats, including configuration as a conventional bed.
First and business class seats can now be realistically regarded as passenger sleeping accommodation and P L Porter has more than 15,000 electrically controlled seats flying with major airlines around the world.
