Boeing says it respects the decision of the Czech government to begin talks aimed at securing the USmanufacturer's exit from Aero Vodochody, in which it holds a 35% stake. However local media has reported that Boeing will leave Aero only if it is given Ckr1 billion ($380 million) compensation, plus a guarantee that the government will never take it to court.

Czech finance minister Bohuslav Sobotka reacted by saying that the position of his country during talks with Boeing is to pay the company just one Czech crown for its Aero shares. However, the US company is believed to be entitled to receive a Ckr1 billion indemnity under a contract it had signed with a previous Czech government in 1998, when its partnership with Aero began.
