Russian flag-carrier Aeroflot is seeking to sell or lease some 40 aircraft and has initiated a formal search for parties interested in remarketing the jets.
Aeroflot Group has listed 21 long-haul and 22 short-haul aircraft in the request for proposals, issued through the government’s federal procurement portal.
In the documentation, obtained by Flightglobal, Aeroflot states that it has opted to “dispose” of several aircraft “in an effort to optimise its cost structure and route network”.
It adds that it has decided to open a purchasing process for remarketing services for the jets.
Interested parties “should understand the urgency of the need to dispose of the aircraft”, the procurement document states, and should assist Aeroflot to achieve this aim “as soon as possible”.
The long-haul aircraft listed in the procurement comprise 13 Boeing 777-300ERs, including three which are to be delivered in March-June next year.
Aeroflot lists the other 10 as having been manufactured during 2012-14 and delivered between February 2013 and May 2014.
The remaining long-haul jets consist of eight Airbus A330-300s, all built in 2011-12.
All 777-300ERs are powered by General Electric GE90 engines while Aeroflot’s A330 fleet is fitted with Rolls-Royce Trent 700 powerplants.
Aeroflot has 17 A330-300s plus five A330-200s, according to Flightglobal’s Ascend Fleets database, as well as 13 777-300ERs in service.
The short-haul procurement contains 21 Airbus A321s plus a single A320, ranging in age from three to 11 years. Its fleet of A320-family aircraft is powered by CFM International CFM56s.
Aeroflot states that it plans to select the successful bidder on 2 July.
