AeroMobile has begun supplying its in-flight mobile connectivity system to the head-of-state VVIP widebody airliner market.
The company, a wholly owned subsidiary of Telenor, recently fitted its system to a VVIP-configured Airbus A330-200 for Swiss aircraft management and charter firm Comlux.
AeroMobile's in-flight mobile voice and SMS solution is supported by Inmarsat's Classic and Swift64 aeronautical services, but the Comlux A330-200 "will be upgraded to SwiftBroadband", says AeroMobile chief commercial officer Peter Tuggey.
AeroMobile is in the process of equipping Emirates' entire fleet with mobile connectivity. Tuggey points out that "a lot of work we've done with Emirates has represented significant investment in the certification side". Emirates operates about 30 A330-200s.
The AeroMobile executive says 2010 is promising to be a busy year in the commercial and business aviation sectors, noting: "You'll see further evidence of heads-of-state using the system as well."
