Plans by Venezuela's Aeropostal to form a non-equity alliance with Ecuador's Aerogal are part of a growing trend. Aeropostal already has an alliance with Colombia's Aerorepublica, in which it holds a minority stake, and is seeking a partner in Costa Rica to help launch an airline to be named Aeropostal Centro America. Aeropostal seems unperturbed by Venezuela's announced plan to start a state-owned airline this year. Other recent Latin alliances include Uruguay's U-Air and Brazil's TAM, Bolivia's LAB and Chile's Sky Airlines, and Bolivia's Aerosurand TACA Peru. All include codesharing; some cover more.
