A new Shanghai-based show dedicated to commercial aviation is planned for 2006.

Reed Exhibitions Aerospace and Defence Group hopes shortly to confirm full details of the event. It has partnered with the Shanghai International Exhibition Company (SIEC) to create the new show to be called Aerospace China.

Negotiations are at an advanced stage and are described as exciting and extremely positive.

Confident

Dialogue with the necessary Chinese authorities has also been taking place simultaneously and Reed is confident it can deliver a quality B2B event dedicated to commercial aviation activities - including design, development, testing, manufacturing, assembly and aftermarket services, as well as airport and air traffic infrastructure across the business, regional, airline, air cargo and rotary air transport sectors - with the necessary local support.

SIEC is a leading local exhibition organiser jointly owned by Shanghai World Expo (Group) and CCPIT, Shanghai. It was founded in 1984 and has launched more than 500 events since its establishment. SIEC president Tang Gui Fa underlines the fact that "Shanghai is the major logistics hub and economic engine for China and, with two airports in Pudong and Hongqiao, the city provides the aerospace and aviation industry with great potential to grow tremendously in the future."
