Boeing 777 freighter conversion specialist Mammoth Freighters has selected MTU Maintenance as its preferred engine support partner for the programme.

Mammoth Freighters has unveiled plans to offer cargo conversion of the 777-300ER and 777-200LR.

Both variants of the twinjet are powered by General Electric GE90 engines.

Under the maintenance agreement MTU will cover scheduled and unscheduled powerplant servicing, engine leasing, and other support to the passenger-to-freighter programme.

Mammoth Freighters co-chief Bill Tarpley says engine performance and fuel efficiency are “primary selling features” of the conversions.

“MTU and their highly-customised support strongly enhances our conversion program offering,” he adds.

German-based MTU carries out GE90 shop visit work at its Hannover facility.
