ST Engineering and Vietnam Airlines have inked an agreement to explore setting up an airframe MRO joint venture.
The joint venture would operate out of Vietnam Airlines’ facilities in Hanoi Noi Bai International Airport, and Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City. If set up, it would provide airframe MRO services to Vietnam Airlines and other potential airline partners.
ST Engineering says: “The joint venture will leverage the rich MRO expertise of ST Engineering, and the extensive networks of its airline partners to tap the growing MRO market in the region.”
Adds Vietnam Airlines chief Duong Tri Thanh: “The establishment of a joint venture will bring more aircraft and added value to Vietnam. Likewise, it will help to improve the technical level of the domestic aircraft maintenance industry as well as the competitiveness of the national airline.”
This is ST Engineering’s second partnership with Vietnam Airlines. Last September, ST Engineering’s joint venture with Vietnam Airlines’ MRO unit commenced operations.
Known as Vietnam Singapore Technologies Engineering Aerospace (VSTEA), the company provides component MRO support to domestic and international airlines for types such as the Boeing 787, Airbus A320, A321, A350, and ATR 72.
