US maintenance provider StandardAero has acquired turbine component coating specialist TRS Ireland.

Cork-based TRS is in the business of coating blades, vanes and other hot-section engine components, and its capabilities span the CFM International CFM56 series.

It has more than 180 OEM approvals and “unique” certifications from the US Federal Aviation Administration and European Union Aviation Safety Agency, says StandardAero.

TRS customers include GE Aviation, Rolls-Royce, MTU, Safran and Siemens.

StandardAero describes TRS, which employs more than 100 staff, as “a trusted partner… with customised services, outstanding quality, cost-effective pricing and fast turn times”.

Rick Stine, president of StandardAero’s components, helicopters and accessories division, notes the Irish company’s “extensive intellectual property around turbine airfoil and coating technologies”, adding: “We see significant opportunities to leverage these capabilities and capacity to the fast growing aerospace and aero-derivative turbine engine repair markets.”

Standard Aero has an international network of 40 repair facilities.
