Romania's Aerostar is here with just a year to go to the 50th anniversary of its creation in 1953.
"Our strategy for the coming years is founded on three sectors," an Aerostar spokesman says. "We want to consolidate in the fields of maintenance and civil and military aircraft upgrades, and we aim to focus on bringing our aerostructures capabilities up to modern international standards."
In the past half-century the company has chalked up an impressive list of achievements – 3,300 aircraft and jet engines overhauled, 1,800 IAK-52 trainers built under licence from Yakovlev, and 100 MiG-21 Lancer upgrades delivered.
On its stand (Hall 5, A11) Aerostar is emphasising the breadth of its current product line – from hydro-pneumatic systems and the APRA unguided rocket launcher to the Lancer and, in conjunction with Europe's EADS and Elbit of Israel, the MiG-29 Sniper upgrade.
The company is also co-operating with Thales on integration of NATO-compatible IFF into the aircraft of the Romanian armed forces.
