Rwanda's national carrier RwandAir has contracted IFE Services to provide in-flight entertainment (IFE) content for the Panasonic Avionics eFX audio/video on demand (AVOD) systems that will be installed on the carrier's two newly-ordered Boeing 737-800s.

Under the terms of the agreement, IFE Services will handle the provisioning of all Hollywood and classic movies, popular TV shows, audio channels and a CD library for RwandAir. Financial terms have not been disclosed.

RwandAir is expected to take delivery of the two 737-800s in July and September 2011, respectively. These aircraft will be the first on the African continent to incorporate Boeing's new Sky Interior concept, according to IFE Services.

"For the very first time RwandAir will be purchasing two brand new aircraft. We are very proud of these Boeing 737-800s which will be fitted with the latest IFE technology from Panasonic. The prospect of partnering with IFE Services on audio visual content is one that we find exciting and hope will bring a whole new onboard experience to our customers," says RwandAir CEO John Mirenge.

Adds IFE Services managing director Andy McEwan: "Adding a growing, successful airline such as RwandAir to our client-base is great news and we look forward to helping them deliver a fantastic entertainment package to their passengers for many years to come."
