Nigerian low-cost carrier Afrijet has been licensed by the government to fly into Europe via Lyons and Madrid. Its inaugural flight to London, via Lyons, is set for early June and to Madrid later this year. Afrijet currently flies into the Congo in partnership with Hewa Bora.
South Africa’s upgrade Airports Company South Africa is to spend R5.2 billion ($815 million) on a major expansion of its three main airports, at Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban, in preparation for the soccer World Cup in four years.
ATRs for Equatorial Guinea Equatorial Guinea is to buy an ATR 42 and two ATR 72s to create a new national airline. The deal for the three new aircraft is worth $50 million.
