Taiwan's Aerospace Industry Development Corporation (AIDC) and Bombardier are renegotiating a contract covering empennages for the new Challenger 300 business jet.

AIDC says it is seeking an increase in the price it receives for each empennage to reflect engineering changes and slower than expected sales.

The Taiwanese company is now contracted to manufacture around 150 empennages for just over $400,000 each. AIDC says it incurred higher than expected design costs because of several engineering changes during the Challenger 300 flight-test programme and the component is also more expensive to manufacture than expected. Negotiations are ongoing.

The company has so far delivered about 30 Challenger 300 empennages. The manufacturer also supplies rudders for the Dassault Falcon family.
