The Raytheon AIM-9X Sidewinder missile has a potential export market of around 5,000 units, the company said yesterday at the show.

Expressions of interest have already been received from move then half a dozen countries with a total potential requirement of between 1,500 and 2,000 units.

On the side, the Swiss Air Force recently announced a firm order for the short-range missile in a $30 million deal. The missile will be fitted to F/A-18 aircraft.
