Sharjah-based carrier Air Arabia has selected Turkish Technic as component MRO provider for its Airbus A320 fleet.
The agreement between the low-cost carrier and maintenance group covers equipment repair and overhaul as well as spare component pool access. The deal brings the number of aircraft under contract for its spare-part pool to “more than 500”, says Turkish Technic.
Air Arabia operates a fleet of 39 A320s from its bases in Sharjah and Ras Al Khaima in the United Arab Emirates as well as Casablanca, Morocco, and Egypt’s second city Alexandria.
All components will be serviced at facilities in Istanbul.
The contract was “one of the bold steps we have achieved in 2014 as we are broadening our component pool service area to the Middle East”, says Turkish Technic’s acting chief executive Fazil Ciftci.
He replaced Ismail Demir at the MRO group’s helm in April, after Demir had been appointed undersecretary for defence industries by the Turkish government.
