Indian Ocean carrier Air Austral has agreed lease terms with operating lessor Air Lease (ALC) for two new Boeing 777-300ERs.

Both aircraft are from the lessor’s order book with Boeing and are scheduled to deliver in the fall of 2016.

The Reunion-based carrier’s nine-aircraft fleet already includes three 777-300ERs, one of which is leased from ALC.

“We are delighted to lease two more new 777-300ERs to Air Austral, a long-time customer of ALC. Our management team has a great relationship with Air Austral and we are happy to support the renewal of their twin-aisle fleet with the addition of these modern, fuel-efficient aircraft,” says executive vice-president Marc Baer.

Last month Air Austral placed an order for a pair of early-build Boeing 787-8s. Both will be configured with 262 seats in two classes, including 18 in the business-class cabin, the carrier states.
