Flight International Online News 11:00GMT: Air Canada has selected the General Electric GEnx to power its new fleet of 14 Boeing 787s.
GE values the deal at over $400 million based on list prices.
The engine manufacturer also says Air Canada’s purchase of GE90s for its new fleet of Boeing 777-200LRs and 777-300ERs will be worth more than another $900 million based on list prices.
The GE90 is the only engine powering the 777-200LR and -300ER.
The GEnx competes against the Trent 1000 for the 787.
Air Canada yesterday firmed up its commitment for 14 787s for delivery from 2010 and for 18 777s for delivery from 2007. The Star Alliance carrier also has options for up to 46 additional 787s and 18 additional 777s, including the new 777 freighter.
