Boeing has confirmed Air China’s order for 15 Boeing 777-300ER and 30 737-800 aircraft, initial details of which were disclosed by the carrier earlier this week.
The US airframer stated at the Farnborough air show on 17 July that the aircraft order had been previously attributed on its books to an unidentified customer.
All Boeing 777-300ERs are fitted with General Electric GE90 engines, and the CFM International CFM56 is the sole powerplant for the 737-800.
Air China chairman Kong Dong says: “The 777-300ER will be the backbone of our long-haul international fleet and the new 737-800 will support our hub build-up and our company’s domestic strategy.”
Boeing values the agreement at $6.3 billion at catalogue prices. Air China stated earlier this week that the aircraft would be delivered from 2011-15.
