Microtecnica of Italy has delivered its first vapour cycle air conditioning system to Sikorsky for flight testing on the new S-92 Helibus.

First flight with the system is scheduled for later this year with system qualification testing to be completed by the end of 1999.

The system provides individual temperature control for the helicopter's cockpit and cabin and is on display at parent company Hamilton Standard's exhibit in Hall 4, Stand H9.

"The Microtecnica air conditioning system is electronically controlled, utilises environmentally friendly refrigerant and is low in weight because of extensive use of composite materials and advanced manufacturing techniques," says Giorgio Lapidari, Microtecnica president and chief executive officer.

The company is also developing a vapour cycle system for the NH90 medium lift helicopter.
