Spanish carrier Air Europa has contracted MTU to maintain the General Electric CF34-10E engines powering its Embraer 195 regional jet fleet.
MTU says that the Majorca-based airline has signed an exclusive seven-year support deal – covering shop visits, on-wing repairs and provision of spare engines – which is valued at $120 million.
The German engine specialist has not specified whether it is a time-and-material or hour-based support maintenance contract. But it says that the deal has been tailored around Air Europa’s requirements.
It covers the engines for 11 E-195s plus two spare powerplants.
Shop visits will be completed by MTU's facility near Berlin.
That site's managing director Andre Sinanian states: "Air Europa has been a customer for years, but we haven't been their sole service provider."
