Air France Industries KLM Engineering & Maintenance's components repair shop in Shanghai has been granted EASA approval.
The facility was opened in 2013 to repair avionics under initial certification by the Civil Aviation Administration of China.
However, the MRO group's component product senior vice-president Vincent D'Andrea says Chinese airlines require from maintenance suppliers EASA or FAA approval in addition to local certificates.
The European endorsement will be a "genuine asset" in the facility's bid to increase market share.
