Virgin Atlantic, Air France, British Airways, Singapore International Airlines, and Malaysia Airlines are among the major airlines being linked to the sale of a 26% stake in Air India. Virgin Atlantic boss Sir Richard Branson says his company is a "strong contender" for the stake and Air France has also expressed its interest publicly.
