Replacement Fijian carrier Air Pacific has ordered five Boeing 787-9s to replace its existing widebodies, in a deal which includes purchase rights for three more. The aircraft will be delivered in 2011-12. The selection of an engine supplier will follow in late 2006. The airline, 46%-owned by Qantas, has meanwhile consummated a deal to buy local domestic carrier Sun Air, which will be rebranded as Fiji Airlines.
