AirAsia's long-haul operation AirAsia X is refurbishing all economy and business class seats on its aircraft.
The airline will upgrade the seats on two Airbus A340s and five A330s, says a spokeswoman.
She declines to reveal the amount that AirAsia is spending on the refurbishment exercise.
The first aircraft will be refurbished by 1 February, and the airline hopes to complete the exercise for all seven aircraft by June, says the spokeswoman.
Business class seats on the aircraft will be replaced by new lie-flat beds, she adds. The airline's A340s will have 18 such beds, down from 30 business class seats currently. The A330s, which have 28 business class seats, will have 12 lie-flat beds.
In economy class, the number of seats on the A340 will increase to 309 from 256, while the number of seats on the A330 will increase to 365 from 364, says the spokeswoman.
