You won't find many companies at Farnborough which manage to combine interests in fields as diverse as medicine and aviation.

Intermed Video Technologies (H3/E1) does exactly that. Its team arrived at the Show to exhibit what it describes as a major leap forward in airborne video recording.

Intermed has pioneered the ADVCR-100 Airborne Digital Recorder which harnesses the latest digital technology and can record two high quality audio channels and full colour video. The digital format is seen as a substantial advance on previous analogue technology.

The company, which has its headquarters in Connecticut, is aiming the product at the military market. It is also developing multiple units which will incorporate between two and four decks.

The military aspect to Intermed is now playing a key role alongside its medical division which was the cornerstone of its business when the company was incorporated in 1990.

Intermed provides specialised equipment for use in X-ray clinics, cardiology laboratories and CAT scan systems. Its customer base includes General Electric, Siemens and Phillips.
