Airbus out-delivered its US rival for the second time in succession last year. The European manufacturer has also beaten Boeing in net orders for the third year running.

Boeing delivered 285 commercial aircraft in 2004 and secured 272 net orders. Airbus will confirm this week that it sold and delivered in excess of 300 aircraft last year.

Airbus is set to better Boeing again this year, with deliveries of up to 360 aircraft forecast, compared with its rival's projected 320. A full analysis will appear in next week's Flight International.
