EADS and BAE Systems have approved Airbus’s new executive committee. A380 programme head Charles Champion becomes co-chief operating officer and “number two” to chief executive Gustav Humbert. Chief commercial officer John Leahy is appointed co-chief operating officer – customers, also taking charge of Airbus’s regional offices in North America, China, Japan and Russia. Former head of procurement Tom Williams becomes executive vice-president programmes for both civil and military sectors. Juan Carlos Martinez Saiz, former head of development for the A400M, becomes executive vice-president military programmes, reporting to Williams. Karl-Heinz Hartmann takes on the role of executive vice-president operations, replacing Gérard Blanc who is leaving Airbus. Alain Flourens takes on Hartmann’s former role as head of Airbus’s centres of excellence, while Henri Courpron becomes executive vice-president procurement. Olivier Andriès, previously senior vice-president, head of the A330, A340 and A350 programmes, becomes executive vice-president strategy and co-operation.
