Airbus Industrie has sealed its long awaited joint order for up to 179 A320-family aircraft with Latin American airlines LanChile, TACA and TAM.

Included are a total of 90 firm orders and 89 options: 20 firm orders and 20 options from LanChile, and 32 firm orders with 32 options from El Salvador-based TACA Group (TACA Airlines, Aviateca of Guatemala, Lacsa of Costa Rica and Nica of Nicaragua). TAM of Brazil has 38 firm orders with options for a further 37, adding to an order for five A330s.

TACA and LanChile will phase out Boeing 737s. TAM is to replace Fokker 100s.
