Lufthansa Systems has finalised an agreement with Airbus under which the information technology specialist will provide its electronic route manual product across the Airbus range.
The A380 will be the first to use the product in a Class 3 electronic flight bag (EFB), fully integrated with the aircraft’s systems. But the system, in a Class 1 or Class 2 EFB with full operations functionality as well as charting, is available immediately for retrofit on A320 family aircraft, A330s and A340s, says Lufthansa Systems.
The eRouteManual includes en-route, approach, departure and airport taxiway charts drawn from a continually updated database. The agreement follows a memorandum of understanding signed last year. Lufthansa Systems says it is negotiating to offer its product in Boeing aircraft, but points out that Jeppesen, which offers similar software, is a Boeing subsidiary.
