AirAsia was expected to announce a massive order for Airbus A320s this week. Industry sources said the Malaysia-based low-cost carrier's top executives would be in Europe on Monday to unveil an order for over 30 of the twinjets. The total deal, including options, could exceed 100 aircraft, the sources said. AirAsia currently operates 15 A320s and 35 Boeing 737s, and has another 85 A320s on firm order. It needs more aircraft due to its rapid expansion, and its associate carriers in Thailand and Indonesia are keen to grow. The group wants to launch services to India and additional flights to China and the Philippines.
