Aircraft deliveries by US general aviation manufacturers continued to climb in the first half of the year, increasing by more than 18% over the same period last year.

According to the US General Aviation Manufacturers Association (GAMA), 1,316 units valued at $4.2 billion were shipped during the first six months, compared with 1,113 aircraft deliveries during 1999.

Turboprop deliveries during the first six months jumped by 46%, from 113 to 165 units. Shipments of piston-powered aircraft increased by over 13% from 763 to 864 units, while jet aircraft deliveries rose by over 20% from 237 to 287 units.

Cessna had the largest jump in deliveries for the last quarter, rising from 246 to 298 aircraft.
